Carrington Labs of Irving, TX, and Medline Industries Inc. of Mundelein, IL, issued a recall of Alcohol-Free Mouthwash and Hygiene Kits containing mouthwash because of possible bacterial contamination.

The mouthwash, which was distributed to long-term care facilities, hospitals and medical centers nationwide, may have been contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia. The product has been linked to hospital illness in Texas and Florida.

People who have certain health problems such as weakened immune systems or chronic lung diseases, particularly cystic fibrosis, may be more susceptible to infections with these bacteria.
