The Food and Drug Administration’s Commissioner has promised better relations with medical product makers. Toward that goal, the agency’s Margaret Hamburg announced plans to invite medical entrepreneurs to train agency scientists on how to work with small businesses. Under the “entrepreneurs-in-residence” program, small business executives would serve as ambassadors between the FDA and vendors. The move comes in response to vendor allegations that the agency has been needlessly slowing approvals of new drugs and devices.
