Nursing homes in Waterbury, CT, faced a water main break Sunday evening, causing diminished water pressure and brown, discolored water to flow. Nearly 80,000 people overall were affected. The break was attributed to sub-zero temperatures.

In response, the American Medical Response and Crystal Rock Water Company donated and delivered 5,000 bottles of water to nursing homes in the area so that medications and other vital tasks could be administered as usual.

Health officials officially declared that the water was safe on Monday.
