Democrats may focus on Medicare if they take Congress, Stark says
The election has not yet been held, but Democrats already are planning how they would wield their control in Congress, if they win.
Pete Stark (D-CA), the ranking member of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, said it is likely there would be greater congressional oversight of the Medicare program if Democrats gain control of one or both houses of Congress this November.The focus will be the Part D prescription drug program, including how participating drug plans get paid, the discounts they receive, and the standards they must meet when marketing health plans to consumers, said Stark. He said he also wants to see uniform standards for health information technology implemented and adopted across the board within five years.
