Democratic presidential hopefuls are calling for universal healthcare coverage.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (OH) recently offered such a plan that would factor in long-term care. He was one of 42 co-sponsors of universal health coverage legislation re-introduced last week. The bill would provide coverage for all medically necessary procedures, including long-term care, prescription drug coverage, dental care and mental healthcare.

Meanwhile, the Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), who could emerge as the Democratic frontrunner, last week put a timetable on the implementation of universal healthcare coverage. He said that all U.S. residents should have healthcare coverage within the next six years.
