Deal is a true groundbreaker

Genesis HealthCare is partnering with Johns Hopkins Hospital's Bayview campus in a $20 million project that may force many analysts to revamp skilled care bed valuations — and the nature of hospital-SNF alliances.

At a time when bed prices are hovering around $50,000, this partnership could put the per bed construction cost at a multiple three times that amount, possibly higher, observers believe. 

Moreover, the venture could foreshadow other partnerships between skilled nursing providers and hospitals, according to analysts.
