» The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society partnered with AARP to pilot the “Connecting to Community” program to reduce social isolation. Residents at four Good Samaritan locations received iPads and six months of training. 

» Genesis HealthCare has made Albuquerque its western headquarters. The company may expand its operations west of the Mississippi and use this location, the former headquarters of Sun Healthcare, as a base for back-office business, a Genesis executive told local news sources. 

» Atlanta-based Gentiva Health Services bought the home health and hospice businesses of Texas-based Harden Healthcare Services for about $409 million. Harden retained its skilled nursing and assisted living businesses, and Gentiva will become a preferred home health provider for Harden SNFs in Texas.

» Harrison Senior Living teamed  with Lancaster Pollard to refinance two 139-bed skilled nursing facilities. The loans total $14 million and were obtained through the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Harrison has sites in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.
