» Chris Bauleke is the new CEO at Healthland Inc., the company announced at the end of June. Bauleke was previously president of RelayHealth Enterprise Intelligence at McKesson. 

» OnShift announced a new product release meant to support Affordable Care Act compliance requirements. Under the ACA, employers may have to expand health insurance coverage for their employees by 2015, based on the number of workers and number of hours that they work. OnShift’s new predictive analytics will help providers be proactive and avoid additional costs, the company said.

» Optimus EMR announced the launch of its new Optimus Billing and Financial System (OBFS) in June. The OBFS is fully integrated with the company’s EMR clinical system, sharing one point of entry and a common database with the clinical EMR system, according to the company. Features include automatic retroactive re-billing and accounting for all changes in resident status/payor information and pre-populated Medicare Part A RUGS and Medicare Part B fee schedules. It supports all forms of elemetronic billing and remittances, including 837/835.

» Medline Industries Inc. will expand its e-Commerce and Information Services division to downtown Chicago, creating 35 to 40 new jobs, the company said. Medline said it expects its Chicago office to double in size in the next three to five years. 

» Florida-based Avanté Group partnered with the Virginia Tech School of Architecture and Design’s interior design program to improve the look of residential healthcare facilities. Projects for the students included a design for a senior care setting with a more homelike environment. Avanté had support of design partners Invacare and Encompass.

» Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) has selected HealthcareSource for e-learning content and webinars, the company announced. The HealthcareSource NetLearning Learning Management System software will let NICHE member organizations electronically access courses and webinars.
