CMS releases updated Minimum Data Set manual

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released an updated version of the Minimum Data Set 3.0 Resident Assessment Instrument manual Monday.

As anticipated, changes to this crucial long-term care manual were not as sweeping as last year. Among the changes, Section A has been updated with regard to resident admission/readmission dates.

Section S includes new questions that may have to be answered by providers using this state-specific part of the manual, and these facilities should check with their state RAI coordinator regarding the changes, experts recently told McKnight’s. It remains essential for MDS coordinators and their colleagues to be vigilant about all changes and incorporate them into their workflows, many of these experts emphasized.
