Berries boost memory: study

Strawberry and blueberry consumption has been linked to slower rates of memory loss.

Results of a new study found that women who had higher berry intake had delayed memory decline by 2½ years. Researchers at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston examined memory data for 16,000 female registered nurses over six years.

Strawberries and blueberries are high in flavonoids, which is believed to be a factor.
“We provide the first epidemiologic evidence that berries appear to slow progression of memory decline in elderly women,” researcher Elizabeth Devore, Sc.D., said.
