Care Innovations has created a behavior training course for clinicians to support improved patient engagement.

The behavior training course focuses on increasing engagement, identifies areas for improvement, and highlights technology’s role in supporting these efforts, the company said.

Nurses can make subtle shifts, such as in the way they ask a question or summarize, that can help in behaviors, said Maureen Glynn, Senior Director of Research and Compliance for Care Innovations.

The course is broken into three sections, with attendees walking through six steps, learning four clinician-coaching skills such as crafting open-ended questions, and finally discussing the most common challenges associated with acting as the coach. Topics such as ambivalence and resistance are covered.

“At Care Innovations, we’re a transformation company,” said Chief Clinical Officer Julie Cherry. “And we know you can’t have transformation without behavior change.”
