Prices paid for nursing home beds remained relatively stable last year, a new report shows.

The average price declined by 3% to $43,250 per bed in 2005, according to the Senior Care Acquisition Report published by Irving Levin Associates Inc. Because the slight decrease occurred after a record-setting average price paid the year before, the decline was not surprising and indicates a reasonably strong market, said Stephen M. Monroe, the report’s editor.
Meanwhile, the average sales price for assisted living facilities expanded by nearly 50% in 2005 to $140,300.
Independent living was even more robust, with the average price more than doubling, to just over $150,000 per unit.
