AHIMA will host an ICD-10 academy to build expert trainers in diagnosis and procedure coding events in Denver from July 10 to 12.

It will be run by Ann M. Zeisset, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, President, Ann Zeisset Consulting, Patricia L. Shaw, MEd, RHIA, FAHIMA, Associate Professor and Program Director, Weber State University. Participants will be prepared to train other coding professionals in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems. 

There will be two online courses that should be completed before the three-day in-person workshop. The first day focuses on ICD-10-CM, while days two and three focus on ICD-10-PCS coding. After successful completion of both the online and in-person training portions, attendees may complete an assessment in order to earn an AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer Certificate. Trainers must renew their certificates in order to maintain AHIMA approval as ICD-10-CM/PCS trainers.

There are 34 Continuing Education Units available.
