Advancing Excellence campaign releases nursing home checklist for consumers

A new checklist from the Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes campaign could help consumers navigate through the search for a nursing home.

The checklist, released Thursday, contains 10 questions families or patients can ask and steps they can take to make sure their nursing home stay is of the highest quality possible, according to a campaign press release. Questions cover different aspects of staffing issues, quality of care at a facility and measures of resident satisfaction.

More than half of the nation's nursing homes have sign on to the Advancing Excellence campaign, which works to achieve measurable improvements in nursing home care. To view the checklist, visit the Advancing Excellence Web site.
