ABILITY® Network, which has a presence in the hospital, home health and skilled nursing industry, announced in April it had bought software company eHealth Data Solutions LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
eHDS’s four products — CareWatch, RiskWatch, UBWatch and CW Connect— are geared toward post-acute providers in giving data analytics that lead to measurable actions. The Ohio-based company was founded in 2001.
ABILITY’s chairman and CEO, Mark A. Pulido, noted eHDS’s “leading clinical and administrative capabilities in CareWatch, RiskWatch, UBWatch and CW Connect” were natural complements for ABILITY’s desired growth in the post-acute market. eHDS also recently debuted a Payroll Based Journal option.
“Combining eHDS with ABILITY expands our sales reach and service level for our customers,” said John Sheridan, founder and CEO of eHDS. “ABILITY brings the scale and excellence to succeed in a changing market, as providers seek ways to improve clinical and financial performance to thrive in a value-based care environment.”
Sheridan, along with co-owner and director of clinical and customer support Jeannette Petten, joined ABILITY, along with other members of the eHDS team.
The eHDS buy was the third for ABILITY in the past six months. In February, it acquired G4 Health Systems, which provides revenue cycle management and data analytics for small and mid-sized hospitals, physician offices and post-acute providers. ABILITY also purchased the OCS HomeCare and Hospice analytics division from the National Research Corporation in late December. National Research retained its Home Health CAHPS business in the OCS division.
Founded in 2000, ABILITY is headquartered in Minneapolis with principal offices in Boston and Tampa. It announced plans at the end of April to add 75 positions to its Tampa office, in the area of sales, IT and administration. There are currently 100 employees in the Florida office.
